My Trip Around the World: Callanan Middle School, Des Moines


I'm back at Callanan Middle School to see my favorite teacher Mr. Lowe!!!!!!!!! I had a lot of fun thinking of all the things I could do on this fake trip. I'm going to share my project with my class when I go into school today. I hope they all like it, I also hope Mr. Lowe gives me a good grade. Cross your fingers, and thanks for reading this!!

1) Mr. Lowe is the best teacher ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2) I didn't actually go on this trip.

3) Mr. Lowe likes football, his favortie team is the Packers.

4) Mr. Lowe also likes baseball, his favorite team are the Angels.

My Trip Around the World: Victoria Land, Antarctica


I'm in Victoria Land!!! This is my last stop on my trip so I'm going to savor it. After I set up camp I went exploring and found a giant ice cave!!! After I found the first ice cave I found a lot more of them. I went back to my camp after a while and starred at the stars before I went to bed. I dreamt about going home that night.

5 facts about Victoria Land, Antarctica:

1)Victoria Land is a region of Antarctica bounded on the east by the Ross Sea and on the west by Wilkes Land.

2) It was discovered by Captain James Clark Ross in January 1841.

3)Victoria Land was named after the UK's Queen Victoria.

4) The region includes ranges of the Transtarctic Mountains and the McMurdo Dry Valleys with the highest point being Mount Abbot in the Northern Foothills.

5)Early explorers of Victoria Land include James Clark Ross and Douglas Mawson.

My Trip Around the World: Marie Byrd Land, Antarctica


I'm in Marie Byrd Land!!! It's cold here at least compared to Australia. I set up a tent and got settled in. When I had camp all set up I went out to explore. The land here is so so icy and slippery. Instead I got a picture in front of a HUGE glacier. when I was done hiking I went back to my camp and when I was falling asleep I got to see the Northern Lights!!

1)Because of its remoteness, even by Antarctic standards, most of Marie Byrd Land has not been claimed by any sovereign nation.

2)It is not a recognized nation, making it by far the largest single unclaimed territory on Earth.

3)Marie Byrd Land formerly hosted the Operation Deep Freeze base Byrd Station.

4)Byrd Station was the only major base in the interior of West Antarctica.

5)In 1968, the first ice core to fully penetrate the Antarctic Ice Sheet was drilled here.

My Trip Around the World: Kangaroo Island, Austrailia


I'm on Kangaroo Island!!! It is very beautiful here and there are lots of kangaroo's. I went in search of snow globe and I found one and then went to go swimming in the ocean. Their were many tropical fish in the ocean. I even discovered a giant coral reef. Before I went back to my hotel I sat on the beach and watched the sun set.

2)Kangaroo Island was separated from mainland Australia by a rise in sea level about 9,000 years ago.

3)Stone tools found suggest that Aboriginal people occupied the land at least 11,000 years ago.

4)An unofficial community of sealers and others was set up on Kangaroo Island from 1802 to the time of South Australia's official settlement in 1836.

5)The biggest town on Kangaroo Island is Kingscout.

my Trip Around the World: Alice Springs, Northern Territory


I'm in Alice Springs, Northern Territory!! It is so cool here. I went straight to my hotel after I landed in Alice Springs. I went shopping for a snow globe and explored on the city. I also went hiking in the outback and saw lots of kangaroo's. I was so tired after I went hiking that I went straight to bed.

1)Alice Springs is the second largest city in the Northern Territory of Australia.

2)Alice Springs has a population of 27,481 people.

3)There are six suburbs altogether in Alice Springs which are close to the Alice Springs town centre.

4)Alice Springs is mostly residential.

5)The town of Alice Springs straddles the usually dry Todd River on the northern side of the MacDonnell Ranges.

My Trip Around the World: Bali, Indonesia


I'm in Bali, Indonesia!! It is so cool here I like all the exotic animals here. The people here are very nice also.I went out to get a snow globe and then to explore the town. I saw lots of amazing things here a little monkey even followed me around town all day!!! Before I knew it the day was over and I was in my hotel bed and asleep.

My Trip Around the World: The Great Wall of China


I'm at The Great Wall of China!!! It is so amazing to think that people built this with their bare hands. I like it here it's very peaceful and quiet. I walked all the way across and took lots of pictures. when I was don e at the wall I traveled to Bali, Indonesia.
